the water rises and falls

the water rises and falls

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the water rises and falls

irrigation evolves

spontaneously

when the ducts spend

themselves in arduous splendor

rivers of raw feelings

expunge the grief

to an extent

and shores become anonymous

when we dry out,

there is a disdainful drought

but eventually,

a new moon rises

and clarity

lets us drift again

with reckless abandon.

thank you for your words, sette,

I can relate to this poem Jacob, except for the last part... I am still seeking a new moon, clarity and that reckless abandon.... there is too much drought... your poetry often reaches deep and brings out the emotions we sometimes keep inside... its a good thing to be able to 'expunge the grief'...

thank you for your kind words, Curt.

You always seem to know how to make one look at things, so they make so much more sense than your simple minds allows you. Im caught up in the shore and feeling dry. The title is perfect for the circumstances of my dreams.

Love the closing line J.
I guess we are creature of movement..... we cannot remain stagnant for long ..
If we do then life moves on and we remain...

Whatever we are grieving letting it burst forth can be liberating, and set us on a new course
