like over driven pick-ups

like over driven pick-ups

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

like over driven pick-ups

drifting country,

roadside attraction

tailgating politicians in corn dog fashion

line the streets of insanity

there is a gravel sentiment

heavy stone, moss laden tears

introspection is a dead end turnoff

we are all being driven mad

we just don't know it

because the logic we are in

is self-parking.

A near over-loaded boot BUT full of truth, j. Politics has reached pandemic highs, little for the voters, saturation of power to those holding the cards. What happened - wherever one lives, to being THERE for the people, not for the benefit of hot air and self promotion? Your metaphors reach top marks.. as they often do admittedly, but is an academic address to those who stick heads in sand and say... what they say. Thank you for your much needed awareness.

Pick a side my friends.
You could be right but you might be wrong
Let's sing a verse of the same old song
We've seen this before, it never ends.

Good write j.

My sincere pleasure, my acoustic version will be so much better tho....
The American dream is only a thousand mile walk.
If only they realised the only welcoming committee would be the military.
Sad times ahead.

so true, Paul....thank you.

last stanza is gold
sort of brings to mind the lack of understanding when it comes to simple things that are automated now
if the power went out we'd all be screwed

let's hope it doesn't--thank you, Ana.

Some of us look around, and like a canary with a cage opened, shake our head. Time to fly.

as REO Speedwagon once sang, yes.
thank you, Jon.
In this brief, spare offering I think the poet is commenting on the current situation in the US. We are in a time of craziness and the politicians are not helping it. We are stuck in a "self parking" mode we cannot extricate ourselves from, and we are drifting without going anywhere. No one wants to seek the deeper answers, preferring to heap abuse on the "enemy."
