Nesting

Nesting

find a cliff

and fly

into your arms

are you the Eagle

to capture me?

for years i have clawed my way

back to you

with feathered frenzy

hoping we could perch together

finally

on that elusive crag

jutting out 

from a dangerous mountain of heartbreak

our own aerie 

built to keep us safe.

I love that your metaphor here is from.nature, and a very powerful one it is. The magnificent Eagle is a bird of prey. Nesting with a bird of prey tells me much. There is danger here, but a risk considered worth taking. Excellent poem.

A perfect allegory as you describe this relationship in terms of the high dominating unbreachable cliff face upon which is perched the subject of tour affection. And although a sheep far below you would welcome becoming a meal for this predatory bird!
