A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

cooking by numbers

you are the one ingredient

missing from my recipe,

I have kept you in my cupboard

for most of my life,

looking...

ah, I think I have found you,

just behind my heart

next to those scars

I have overused

in too many dishes

concocted of painful regret

let's taste this now

it should have just the right

seasoning.

This sounds as though you had the missing ingredient all along. You just didn't know it. Sort of sad, but ends on a more uplifting note. The right amount of seasoning makes all the difference. Really like the title and the metaphor here Jacob.

Should I have laughed, smiled at that piece of cleverness, jacob?! You don't say for how many numbers, however! Guess we all have a recipe or two to swap, For instance I have most of the ingredients for a tasty fish curry,, have a few scars of my own, must check the list! Dine well, sir. :)

We'll survive - given time and a packet of cookies!
As always you pull a metaphor out of your larder and concoct a feast for the guests on your page Jacob. A taste of sadness in this one as that missing ingredient makes all the difference. Could be worse, you might have had to go to the 'store' and found they had run out lol!

This must be a sweet and savory recipe. Might suggest you do not pass them out to kids in costumes, at the end of the month.
Otherwise, and for all other purposes, may this train never derail.
