Mispronouncing the American Way

Mispronouncing the American Way

my God,
he misunderstood
that damn homonym

he thought "insight"
was spelled "incite"

and then defined it
in his own terms
but he never spelled no good.

I like teachers. I like people to fix my language. Hello Jacob. Some folks can change the language. I know I need a editor. Happy Saturday and thank you for sharing the entertaining poetry.

I am hoping that yesterday's event is not a precursor of things to come ... but why is anyone surprised?
This has been four years in the making.

I must ask though ... where were the burning police cars? What stores were looted? Was the downtown of DC occupied by a radical group claiming it as their own country?

The outrage seems to be that protestors actually entered the "People's House" ... not the blackest day in American history ... far from it, but the outlandish rhetoric would make one believe the Brits had stormed the White House as they did in 1814.

It doesn't take much bombast to convince people who believe they are disenfranchised to march against what they perceive is tyranny ... it's in the DNA of the country after all.

It's a good poem j. Sorry that it took me in that direction, but there will be no healing or righting of wrongs until both sides cease their mindless blather and start working for the betterment of all.

Take care ... be safe

And we must be vigilant too, cause he’s a maniac!
On his own terms...defines him so well. Ego had much to do with what transpired I feel and I loved the play of words here on an absolutely dumbfounding event yesterday.

thank you, DIVYA, I had to try to find a bit of humor or I would just cry.

Here we are in a country that does not resemble the USA anymore. What happened yesterday...sedition, insurrection, treason.....was certainly incited by Mr. Trump. I am appalled. Your words are so appropriate, dear Jacob. Lydi**

Oh my, how clever this piece is and how very apt. Incite indeed. That's just what happened, inciting a crowd. Absolute madness.

Slight tangent here, but the first thing that struck me in WritersCafe, is how different American and English spelling is. I felt like I was getting it wrong with colour, favour, savour, realise, recognise etc. and I struggled to use the word color, even though I should have because the poet has named his poem thus.
