the onomatopoeia of us

the onomatopoeia of us

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the onomatopoeia of us

love is two poems

meeting in the aisle

of the grocery store

sharing a cart of keepsakes

and overpriced memories

that didn't seem so at the time

conversation rung up at the checkout

smiles turn similes

as it feels like yesterday

minus one option,

there is no sale

on what we had

just a dangling metaphor

of what we are now

two poems exchanging verse.

Couplets from the Past … where shopping carts collide with Fruit and Vegetables and a bottle of Vintage Wine… so Divine… Memories in the making by a Fireside. Blessings for Christmas Eve… ❤️

A la Carte … a Sweet. 💜 Heart… Pat
This is lovely. Proving that past relationships can remain positive long after the breakup. This is so visual and it played out beautifully like a movie. I saw those smiles and shared those memories and I felt affection here. Yes, I felt warmth.
