Who's the Father

Who's the Father

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Who's the Father

i am the illegitimate wordsmith

born a b*****d child

no rhyme for my time in the womb

read me inside out

cesarean

i will climb through windows for you

and leave prints on the pane

that add up to poems

no parents will claim.

You know J, any loving parent will stick by their children even if they write crap poetry. Whether good or bad free verse or rhyme, they will claim it. This poem is a reminder to me to stick close to my kids even when the going gets tough, and it often does. When things go pear shaped, they need support and guidance. That's where I drifted in my sleepy state.

Of course, this is also a metaphor for a lover who will do anything and go the extra mile for his love.
