justice

justice

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

 justice

I have sabotaged
my own snow driven soul
to a frigid standstill

god is in the ice follies
of my penance
remorseless heart

conscience breeds a derelict slush
after the melting of sins
and I, with my shovel

dig my own eternity.

I understand why I have done the things I have done, and thereby lies my Sanity. Would I do them again-- No. Is there a Spirit World-- Yes, is what I feel. Have I done things I am proud of doing-- Yes. Pat

we live the best we can...thank you, Pat,

The ancient Egyptians believed that the heart was weighed against the feather of truth. If the goodness of one's life outweighed the feather, entry into the afterlife was assured. If, however, the scale tipped the other way, one was fed to a soul devouring beast. Thus, one had no home in eternity and could not return in life. One simply ceased to be. Some still believe we make our own justice. If we do not face the world's justice (and even if we do) we still must account to the Creator beyond the veil. So we truly do, as you say, shovel our own eternity. Just some thoughts from a drifter...

thank you for your words, M.J.

It was once said that sin is the product of understanding. If a hunter kills a man, it's sinful, if he kills a wolf, it is not sinful. However, if a wolf kills a wolf or the hunter, is there a difference in his mind? --- This poem reaches that place where self judgement is stored, sad in its thoughts, but necessary for some to cope. Well done, Jacob.

I guess that is true...
maybe we have to find it among ourselves
Justice indeed. Accepting responsibility, although I do not feel much remorse here. The meltdown into slush still feels very cold to me. That final line says it all J.
