an ear to the palette

an ear to the palette

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

an ear to the palette

the allure

of a still-life painting

a heart sitting so still

inertia barely a breath

an eye refrains from blinking

thoughts of you suspended

as tears would ruin the art.

You took me to a museum. Quiet respect for the artistry displayed sharing the moment with strangers all with their private emotion.

thank you for your words, Bill,

Love this piece, full of emotions. Portraits capture so much, memories, love, loss, silencing time as we reminiscence.

I feel deep emotion here and see eyes locked on that still life painting. Much feeling in this wonderful brevity J.

This made me think of how we can become sp terribly consumed by our own feelings and forget to see the world around us. If we view the world as a painting, our brooding in the negative blurs our vision of the fact that nature's magnificent enough to fill us instead.

They would get it wet and runny if nothing else. Of course that wouldn't change one of Jackson Pollock's offerings one bit. Might even improve it.

wow, I like this response...Oh damn, I Jackson Pollocked all over the floor.

Thoughts if you suspended...
Old girlfriends come to mind here. Long after our lives take us in our separate ways, so many things bring the pictures of them to mind. They engrave themselves indelibly on our souls like tattoos that fade but never vanish. As always, well written.

This made me think of looking at photographs of loved ones who have passed away. If we stare too long, the tears just make the picture blurry. Wonderful write, my friend.
