Blue, Red, Green, Yellow, obscene

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Blue, Red, Green, Yellow, obscene

rainbows steal color

from heaven,

like false idols,

we pray to them

relief after the storm

a pretentious beauty

a mesmerizing intent

our hearts stolen away

maybe God is watching

maybe he wants them back

maybe the next rain will end

in total darkness

maybe the last rainbow

will steal our souls

and God will color us grey.

To make a rainbow one need only bend light. Prisms and cut gems serve the same function. We paint with the Master's palette our red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. But if God is light, perhaps He's more willing to bend for us than we realize. I enjoyed the read.

Well, perhaps lovers and dreamers know better. How full would life be without myth and magic? Pots of gold at the rainbow's end, leprechauns, and other assorted beings. Well written, my friend.

thank you, my friend,

No matter how hard I try, I just can't be bitter with rainbows. Ditto butterflies. As to grey, I can deal with it. The only ones who will really lose out are the tanning salons.

I have not seen a Rainbow for at least four years. It is not my Imagination… Growing up in the Fifties the Weather was more defined. Ice and Snow in the Winter for Skating on frozen Ponds. Going to the Beach in Summer and the Promise of a Rainbow 🌈 when it Rains. gently, Pat
