pass me the remote

pass me the remote

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

pass me the remote

there is a blurry freedom

a few convoluted prayers

for cover

of a soul dipped in rat poison

monsters are out of the closet now

no need for nightmares

we are living them all at once

catastrophic yawns

as we wake to another

pretentiously blue sky

that is lying

the sun shines embarrassingly taut

wanting to break out of its orange skin

shameful

inferences of righteousness

the sanctity of marred sanctuary

when we shouldn't we do

and when we should

we refrain

I can hear the bombs now

the shackles calling

the monsters winning

the rain falling

I think I see it all now

marching through the quicksand

of contented hibernation

wake me when my alarm

rings silence

and I will scream for you.

spot on jacob! tho i hope the dire predictions i see in your poem come to naught .. it seems more and more a wise thing (not conspiratorial) to prepare a little .. tho those efforts i can see to do are far too much like Ukraine holding off the Bear .. for that is exactly what it is ... driven into hibernation now fully awake and hungry ... we could have done so much more and far sooner and perhaps put him back to sleep ... makes no sense to shut down our gas and oil and buy it from enemies .. could have started there

Tis true, the monsters linger in those shadows of all shapes and sizes. Woe to the world, a pandemic and a war in the 1920's. And guess what? It is the 2020's, and we are well on the way to repeating past mistakes.--- Oh, sorry, I really like this poem.

With all the escapism of TV we are still becoming desensitised to reality where the news doesn't seem real anymore. I wish the world leaders would follow political correctness. In space no one can hear you scream someone said and good peoples voices seem to be muted.

yes, they are muted, but some of us do hear them...we feel them.
thank you, andrew,

Change the channel to some old black and white movie or comedy re-run will you? We'll sit and comment on the suave debonair of the characters, laugh at humor that doesn't need to be crude or profane and comment on how they just don't make 'em like that anymore.

H&I is the closest I've seen. Heroes and Icons. I watch it often.
Brilliancy of this poem can't be spoken. It touched my heart. This has a deep meaning, but which was expressed so gently and brief. Can I know what these poems are known as?

Oh! Information added
Hard to tell the difference anymore between movies, series and the latest of so called reality tv and the news networks that is more a commentary on personal corporate views than actual news, I’ll scream with you, for now give me a good book or my playlist. Great piece of poetry

A grand take on our world stage and current war affairs. The remote control tells me of nuclear buttons being threatened with, ready to be used. A sad reality we are living in where power, greed and failed diplomacy are at stake. We all have a stake in the outcome. Speak up as usual sir Jacob.

Yes Siiiirrrrr...You are welcome, J.
good to see you have taken task to realities stage. although vague, it is a major change for one that regularly relied on sympathy and woe.
you have good words that may bring you from this self-made security blanket.
this is a good start to your recovery from yourself into the realities beyond.
it is a tough row to hoe life is.
a B+ for you my friend. (i expect more from you) much respect, abg
