Life is stark and cold, the observant eye always truthful. This is the path of every person. As we age, we take smaller steps and take longer to arrive at our destination. Hopefully, we learn to stop and smell the roses along the way. Love this!
I guess the older we get then that cane becomes much more than a simply walking aid, taking on the role of trusted friend as many such like have now and long since passed on ...
So true Jacob; My grandmother used to walk with a cane at 88 years aging gracefully, with all of her life's memories behind her....whatever life is left....and it's quality...seen through grey eyes....
nice Senryu Jacob;
Hope you are doing well;
Best,B

Yet he may squint to look back on the life behind him, but he can also squint to look forward to what lies ahead. There is still life in those footsteps, even with a cane to hand. Lovely senryu.

Yes the further we go from our beginning, the more we leave behind and our road becomes shorter, closer to the end, maybe that’s why we slow down, smaller steps for there are no prizes coming first across the finishing line.
