A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

in the morning

pristine chapel

with pristine sinners

folding their hands

to pray

or hide what's inside

because now

the masks are off

and the Good Book

is reading them.

One of the reasons I stopped going. The holier than thou, the hypocrites in the congregation who didn’t act like Jesus Christ. Go to church on Sunday and all will be forgiven then the rest of the week continue with campaigns of unkindness. Great write j.

yes, I saw that in my parish...same old, same old.
thanks, Chris,

Those pristine sinners....such masters of deception! The Good Book reads them and hopefully writes them out of salvation. This is such a hard hitting poem. Loved it.

I hope they are written out. Thank you, divya,

Having gone to church since a child I often wondered about the people who did terrible things all week and on Sunday pretended to be righteous.

I did the exact same thing when I was younger...I knew they were hypocrites...did they?

I always thought as a kid that I was the only one thinking those thoughts Jacob, but fear and paranoia never gripped me as it should. I just thought that if God is all knowing, then I'm going to the bad fire for sure.
Mini me also thought of an excellent get out clause that no one had ever thought of either... Just repent on your last breath and your sorted. But then I thought how busy and noisy heaven would be if everyone thought of that, so maybe a few million millenia in purgatory might be just the job instead.
Hell will no doubt be a never ending timeshare hard sell that you'll ironically wish you were dead for! 😊

yes, hate the idea of timeshares...especially when it comes to the soul.

Yes Jacob. I wonder what happen when the prayers are not heard. I read the poem a few times. Some poet wrote in time. You want to find sin. Go to church. I did enjoy the poetry. Made my sleeping mind awake.
