A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

minimalist poetry

in the softness of vulnerability

she advanced a hard smile

shadowing her weakness

for him,

eloquently denying

the plausibility of love.

My favorite poetry is that which does not waste a word, where the weight is felt through each line to the end. This work is literary space well spent. Contrasting the soft vulnerability with the hard smile expresses the ruined moment with both efficiency and elegance all on its own.

Is “she” poetry? Could eloquent vunerabal denial be his to her?

Poems nailed to the wall, become discreet entities that may grow, like a new born babe grows in other’s eyes.

Peace, love, and joy with the poetry goddess.

indeed it is wise one.
Hmmm! Not even a possibilty of love ... but only the plausability ... afraid I've been there.

The words are chosen well and make this little piece of writing feel on point > sharp and soft at the same time. Relatable to me.

The roses that are able to grow on stones are most beautiful -- If one let their emotions mature first before entangling with another, that much is fine -- but often, when such sentiments blossom, not many spot an eye. And the beautiful rose will remains solely a sight, too distant away from reality. Beautifully written, author Jacob.

It’s all about the risk and whether she can survive the pain. The shield for all vulnerabilities to hold back at all costs.

Seems sadness and mistrust stand in the way of happiness here, jacob. Except- by way of the finest poem you have near enough turned negatives into an example of how to stand, be understood and unquestioned. Perhaps?
