A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

clues and causes

the facts,

an investigation

into the heart

a senile heart

not responsible for its actions

I never looked both ways

never saw you coming

did you swerve to engage me

was there purposeful meaning in your smile

research

careful planning

tears

I'm over

you are exonerated

and not held responsible

for the feelings

that drained

like blood from a wound.

Sad write Jacob. Does a senile heart know what it’s doing but governed by anger and an overwhelming sense of insecurity. Anyway a fine write.

Maybe subconsciously...andrew...maybe.

To me this is a sad, nostalgic poem of a man with dementia who can’t remember moments of the past….who is exonerated for the state if his health. “ feelings drained like blood from a womb” sad state of affairs, but beautifully scribed…..
