the eyes of conscience

the eyes of conscience

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the eyes of conscience

a fly on the wall

lost its virginity

as it watched

the trappings of love

between two strangers

wrapped in secret

strangers approaching

familiarity

as a comfort

when loneliness

had been such a pest

in their current past

At first read a hint of humour. Then the reader feels the weight of loneliness. You do this so well, my friend.

Thank you for your kind words, Mary,
j.
This one so carefully worded carries the irony of opposing dualities and a playfulness in words and meaning. It was mind provoking. Loved it

Thank you, Soren, appreciate your kind words,
j.
Such a shame when two strangers have to seek comfort with each other because they are lonely, and not because of any real attraction.
It is only a fleeting emotional attachment .
Must add Jacob that the opening lines had me sittting here laughing at thought of a fly losing it's virginity :)
