A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Recipe

love is a bouillon cube

dissolving with each kiss

each holding in desperation

each word spoken

lovingly

then violently

then frozenly

into memory soup

that chips the tooth

of experience.

Helloooo Jacob!!! I thought this piece was very playful. It made me smile, think and anxious all at once. It's wonderful to be able to capture so many emotions in few lines, make it relatable, and ends with an experience.

Wonderful thanks for sharing!!🤗🤗🤗🤗

bullion cube - ugh ! That made me laugh - thank you. This is actually a great line and I am going to use it ... as it is so so true. Great advice for the young and in love :D I am wondering if you were looking at the mirror or the sky when you write this ... loved it X

'Memory soup' - that's so amazing to imagine. It would be hot and steaming for some, cold as ice for some and bland and terrible for some. You always delight.

As I understand it, memory soup is generally served cold. Not even paprika can warm it up.

This hits home :) The Cycle of Love! For the Young-and-Naïve and hopelessly Romantic ... repeat, repent, repeat ...

Wow, this brings me back to my youth, and I'm sure so many other can relate to your seemingly simple (yet not) metaphor.

Thank you for your kind comment, Amanda,

Such an evolution of love in a recipe as it slips in undetected as a rock that chips the tooth of experience. A rather sophisticated poem in its simplicity.

Oooh love the metaphors
A kissy romantic cook reminds me of a French cook in his country kitchen
Making soup for his lover who never appears

I think you have a poem coming about that cook.
thank you, Julie,

what should we call this soup, Jacob?? 'Chipped Tooth Soup'?? Perhaps 'Bad Memory Soup'? Many names can be given to a bouillon soup that can be drunk with a straw. But that is a 'recipe' for "No Love Soup", which lacks flavor and hardy nutrients necessary for the quality of life.
