Raven Song

Raven Song

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Wrote this whilst listening to Ghost Song by Max Ablitzer, music included.

Previous Version
This is a previous version of Raven Song.

I flew with the dark raven
for he was the only one
   who could taste or see
such  insanely sweet madness in me
   he perched himself right astride
   without cawing a sound
naught a lecture to take care
Mockingly looming overhead
he stared me straight in the eye
So smooth and lovingly lush he sailed
soared within me to new heights
before we burst into fluid flight
I took him in languidly
   hauntingly mysterious elixir
   a cryptic spirit unto himself
Cracked half a vitriolic sad smile
whilst he prepared me for sin
Knocking back at my door
to taunt me raving yet afresh
he sing songs his intoxication into me,
then takes me for a mystical rendezvous
  raven's song so tastefully contrived

              we sing together,
                           twisted in consumption
                                                   the dark raven in me
                                                                    never judges

Mystical, black ravens taking you out on ethereal dates and slowly embedding itself into your soul, becoming forever a part of you (hence the singing together in the end, and the dark raven IN you never judging). What a dark centerpiece for a love felt by a person trying to empty themself.. Well done.

Oh you made my day annie lee, you said quite enough, thanks so much...
Clever stuff here Fireda. Interesting how the raven has become synonymous with the onset of madness. Your friend in words, Pete

Thanks Pete, really jazzed you enjoyed this one.
That old raven is such a tempter..... I thought the P after Frieda was for poetess but it could also be for Poe ? (Edgar Allen)

The pleasures all mine Frieda!
I think I experienced the raven myself Saturday night. I do believe I was flying with the dark winged one in my Jim Beam induced haze. Haha... unfortunately the video won't show up on my phone but I'll look it up on YouTube. ;-)xo

You are more than welcome!
Don`t we all look for the raven`s touch to our order....it sours us to the exotic, to the extraordinary, where we can explore parts that are normally buried, exciting us with the allure and danger of the unknown. Superb images of dangerous liaisons, Frieda. P.

Thanks so much, this is actually my favorite, so thrilled you liked it.
I think this is one of your finest erotica... the metaphor is continuous and fluid. Just when you think it's climaxed you show the ropes of repetition; pulsing like convulsing muscles in aftershock to carry through the final lines. and how do I love ravens... a new affinity for me but it only takes one time to understand and become hypnotized by the midnight watcher. Great job. it took me there... ;)

Ya, very mysterious and sinuous. It has a penetrative quality, sharp like the raven's beak. When I read poems like this, with their haunting quality, I feel the poet has reached another space, like another universe where things happen differently. Thank you letting me into this world. G
