Sad Butterfly Tears

Sad Butterfly Tears

A Story by Frieda P

An orphan of love, a victim of circumstance
she stood upon the ridge of a precipice
leaning over the edge wondering if she'd find peace there
she felt nothing but a mighty wind calling her name
             promising eternal peace ever after
she shut her eyes and the sight took her breath away
just then, a lovely butterfly perched upon her shoulder to say...

'you are not done, I'd given up hope too,
but a mere lowly caterpillar, fuzzy without a clue,
look at me now, I'm magnificent, some decisions
are made for us, other's we have control over,
you too can find your heart's calling and desire'

She opened her eyes to feel the sunrise on her frown
her tears dried up and she thought if given half the chance

I could fly too, she took the leap,

... the butterfly's message had failed in a very tragic way,
                                          ~she cried real butterfly tears

If there's any kind of moral here it's surely, we can try our damned best, but we can't save everyone. Sad, yet true.

I totally agree with the moral lesson and if you will alow me to say that is all true but they have to be willing or able for some are not willing and some are not even able. Love conquers all at the end and I hope we all find inner piece... An excellent subject and write kind lady...:)

She obviously weighs heavy on your mind these days, not that that isn't always the case, but your writing makes it clear when she's truly ingrained in your conscience...it's tough for me to offer advice on this subject as you know, and I simply to try to offer my support as opposed to speculating on circumstances and trying to make suggestions based on those...but yes, it is one of the harsh realities of life that we can't save everyone...

Okay, I am going to make one speculation and this will be it...don't think for a moment that she was never conscious of your love...

Thank you for your visit and kind thoughts.
There's so much truth in this sad take. You and I have talked before about how as givers we constantly want to fix and help. But we can't do it all...we can't be responsible for everything!! The guilt we carry for that is self inflicted. Sometimes our love for others isn't enough to keep them safe. But still we go on...butterflys trying to deal with all the pain in this world. You are a beautiful person.. my friend always. xo

We cannot save everyone and in many ways it is our burden to carry. This is just so terribly tragic. All our best intentions, all our help, is so often not enough. This is a very beautiful parable. The line that just made me take a sharp intake of breath was this:

she shut her eyes and the sight took her breath away

That line was the harbinger of what was to come. Another excellent poem written from the depths.

No we can't, but we must try and even then we will retain questions long in our minds of what more we could have done. I wonder what life would be like without these questions, I wonder what life would be like if we could save the ones we have lost, I wonder...

My good friend, the pain you must endure is hard for me to swallow at times, for your words hit the heart and hit it hard. Tears flow on your behalf wheter you can see them or not. Another perfectly penned poem, from the beautiful mind that is yours. Very nice.
