~Heart Dance~

~Heart Dance~

A Poem by Frieda P

then this great void appeared,
          I fell reluctantly into it
after the storm
there were no safe havens left
       just the quietude of nothingness
in that dark place appeared a light
        miniscule, like a candle flickering
bringing oxygen to this small place
           every second was imperceptible
albeit distinct, my thoughts subtle yet profound
in the shadows there were signs
 the illumination bestowed copious truth
I soaked it in with childlike radiant joy
jarring cacophony ceased, all that remained
was the sweetness of melodious  music
my heart sprung, floating light as a feather
                                         and it began to dance

Your poem ebbs and flows with hope. What we are given, and how we accept or reject it, is so very often based on our perceptions of the moment. The beauty is we can change how we see things and revel in the joy that the light brings to us. I love your word choices in this and as always your imagery is gorgeously fraught with meaning.

There are many things that make hearts feel light and it is an amazing feeling that you have described so well. I enjoyed this poem very much

Ah the joy of heart dancing...weeeeeee! This reminded me of the poem "Daffodils" by William Wordsworth. When we were doing that poem in the 4th grade, our teacher explained to us that the poet's heart felt like dancing on seeing the site. And when he was explaining that to us, I was drawing dancing hearts next to the poem in my textbook -_-

Anyway, I do love the way you describe things! I could picture the whole thing. Your words always have this cool effect on me.

Exquisite - to live in a moment with childlike wonder and without fear. that is a powerful place to be.

Ha, I do have moments, yes....thanks TL.
This poem went a direction I did not anticipate. I like the last line best. When the heart is lifted it can fall like a rock or flit and float like a butterfly. Oh, to feel the heart, of its own accord, leap into the dance. Your breath follows shyly behind the thrilling spiral of bliss...
Wonderful.

Glad you enjoyed this one Kristin!
It reads like a dream, a bad one turned good...I don't know if these dreams are common to anyone else but mine have always been cut and dry...I have good dreams, bad dreams, and all-out nightmares haha I would love a dream like this, and this gives me hope for it ;P Another great piece, Sybil ;)

We take hope wherever we find it, if we are wise. Nicely done, Frieda!
