A Poem by Frieda P

Bare your soul,
spill your blood on white pages
relinquish tears from thine eyes
purge your sins, unburden your heart
If thy pen finds nirvana
to write the light of day,
the darkness of night
reads a lighter shade of gray

I absolutely LOVE the last stanza! Not that the first is chopped liver; it is beautiful in its own way. But since I am a practicing Buddhist, the last stanza rings clear to me and true. Wonderful job of evoking emotions from the reader with this piece.

Indeed, or hearts are in our poetry, our souls between the lines.

Oops, was my soul showing? Thanks my sweet friend. :-)
Hi Frieda. A beautiful write and message about cleansing yourself of pain and sorrow. Heartfelt and thoughtful. Skillfully crafted free verse that is short, concise and succinct. Vivid imagery. Flow is good; line to line transition and breaks are well done. Very nice rhythm and use of enjambment. Lovely depth of feeling. You express this purging through writing that can be uplifting and encouraging to all those who write. I can relate. I especially like these powerful lines:
"relinquish tears from thine eyes
purge your sins, unburden your heart"
In these words is the focal point, the central way in which to release burdens of your heart. Good word choice. Lovely use of contrast in the second stanza. Very good closing lines. Well penned and a much enjoyed read. Write on!

Woo that tickled Gabriel, 'chains of silk'...love it!
I prefer to spill the blood of the detractors, the charlatans who pose as the righteous while burying the poets they have slaughtered. Ha sounds very dramatic! The poem is a lovely little piece which set against your last again shows you versatility and depth. Your output is awesome!
