Chlorine Voices

Chlorine Voices

A Poem by Frieda P

My dreams once vibrant as kaleidoscopic views
thought I knew my way to heaven's gate
chlorine  chimera saturated the devils eyes
bleached the color from my hallucinations

Laid to die in a field, burnt umbrage's past history
shadowed doubts annihilated black & white
rainbows splintered   under  pressured allusions
trapped in mottled spectrum tween gray voices

This is too sad, Frieda. Your description of broken dreams and the color bleached from the world exactly fits the agony of a broken dream, and not necessarily a romantic one. I took a promotion once because I thought it was a good move for my managerial track, but once I was there, I hated it. And I felt as if some giant hand was squeezing my heart; the sunlight lost brightness, and the music ground to a halt. Well-written.

I know it's over my head when my first impulse is to grab a dictionary and thesaurus. But I feel more educated now. :) I read it as a mix of a once happy place shattered by harsh realities. Dunno? ha ha

My chargers at the shop, thanks Ron............
I really like the idea that vibrant dreams can be bleached by different reasons. Even in your hallucinations you are brilliant...Splendid as always...:)

Purpose in life. what is great ? what is small ? where can a hand be applied to carry the weight ?
the fishing pole, a bated hook, am I pre ,or me ? who wrote my program ? well ,me I am confused. But Freida is a alive creative force , who can splinter rainbows across the page.

Holding fast to our dreams is possibly the most difficult thing we face as adults in a world filled with brutal realizations and explicit actualities. A dark, but very good piece! I relate to this deeply, Frieda.

I hear that... I'm fortunate enough to be a perpetual chocolate factory. ;) lol
A strong, evocative poem describing a kind of all consuming darkness that has descended, shrouding out all things bright and positive! Indeed we all can/have felt like this but the sunlight will break through eventually, we just have to wait it out!

A demure one Frieda P, though still absorbing in theme, style and genre !

The fog will clear Frieda, though when surrounded it's difficult to see when but it will !
The images in this one are spectacular, Frieda. Responsibility and anxiety can drain the color from our lives, but rest assured it CAN return. Your dreams have not died....they have just decided to sleep a while. You have expressed so much in just two stanzas here. Powerful writing. Lydi**
