Facade of Living

Facade of Living

A Poem by Frieda P

I wonder why they can't SEE clearly when
everything's been written in terminal code
Dead, long before that last breath of life
was snuffed, inhaling just for show
hanging in the shadows for years, not hours
buried under the rubble long before the avalanche
no one noticed the earth was shifting, or
they ignored the quietude of pleading screams
beneath breathing's precious facade of living

My dear, you've made a habit of writing things that just strike me to the bone. This piece is highly reflective about a lot of things that have been on my mind for the last while. You just have a way of expressing these things that is unparalleled. Awesome work as always :)

We are born alone and solve the mystery of death alone and everything between is like we are alone. You captured this sentiment very well and there are those times when the chaos of life eats us alive and no one notices or cares. Very well done, Frieda.

Cares or notices, I often wonder which it is....thanks Dave.
How very sad, Frieda. Excellently written, it cried out to me and made me feel the pain of that girl's half-life.

That's such a powerful line that tugs at one's soul, Frieda. Wonderful job:)

I take it you hadn't got your vaccine yet...I better get mine soon before I get it.
whoa
I understand this
Must clean my glasses more often
Ha
It paints a sorry picture that is all too common in this 'MODERN' world
Your voice sings with pain at the apathy and ignorance of those faceless excuses for human beings who can ignore the old, and at the same time deny their future

Grazie mille doc, love your insightful reivew....
I will sit, sometimes, watching people walking past...
And I wonder, as I watch...what is inside each of them? What secrets might they be holding deep inside...what trauma...or what horrid guilt? Perhaps that blonde, with her too tight, too revealing clothes...perhaps she is an abused wife. Or maybe that quiet little brunette is the victim of bullies at school. Or, maybe that sweet looking woman is planning to poison her husband. We don't know, do we? Perhaps we have walked beside murderers, and not known it.
Then, again, maybe they are all just normal men and women, going about their business on a normal day...and wondering...
Who is that freaky old lady, sitting there, watching people walking by??

A very sad and heartfelt poem. Injustice can bury so many people under its rubble while onlookers don't notice or make fun of us. There is A God that hear our screams and will take justice for us if they get away with it on Earth...Glad to see you back...:>)......
