The day the poetry died...

The day the poetry died...

A Poem by Frieda P

there were no blue jays overhead
no meadows of swaying wildflowers
not a love note to be sung
nary a sigh in nectar'd wings flight
sad lyrics left its indelible indifference mark
melody of life's sweet arias gone tone deaf
dances on sunset's horizons sank darkly
moonlit kisses just a distant memory
the brass ring of life tarnished
that day you said good-bye~
the day the poetry died...

Oh, yes, when a love leaves us, the poetry leaves our lives. There is nothing lyrical about how we feel and we do not want to think in iambic pentameter or acrostics. After a while, it all comes back, but is it ever really the same? I don't think so. What a gorgeous song you chose to accompany your words. Great stuff. Lydi**

Frieda, the beauty of your words are painted in sorrowed colors by the sadness this piece portrays. To lose poetic breaths because of the pain your heart lives is saddest of all. But I for one know that the brilliance that is your pen shines on all of us. Even in sadness a light finds our eyes and illumines our world for you are so very amazing. I love this poem, even in darkness your poetry finds me and touches my life.

Elton John, perfect. Piano players usually are. :)

There seems to be a inner meaning in this piece...one of a personal nature and another for a list too many to write down...yet this can relate to every writer or artist of the craft of the written word...do we all fall one by one in the end...but what we leave behind never truly dies...only the physical image of those who left their mark in a different understanding...
