Badb Catha, battle cry of the crow‏

Badb Catha, battle cry of the crow‏

A Poem by Frieda P
"

~fearsome triumvirate of the Morrigan

"
Written on hurricane's turbulent rush
storming in the god's hushed denial,
Badhdh's battle cursed in fear's confusion
soldiers marching to move the tides
in her favored sublimation's death rhymes,
  Ireland's mythological crow's warning
wailing in cries of the epic banshee's calling,
no man could foreshadow her bloodshed
crimson lips solicitation in last rites' breath befallen

The Badb Catha, literally Battle Crows, is a figure in Irish
mythology. She is described as a demoness or goddess who frequents battlefields.  She would very often torment  the soldiers
with her rage and fury, confusing them into going berserk within her banshee calling, pushing them to insanity.  I'm hardly Irish, just fell in love with the graphic and did some research, so I hope I got this right.

I knew about the Banshee legend, but not about this. What a terrifying figure she must be.

Ha no comment!!
You were certainly in dungeons and dragons mode today Mrs.R haha...you have no weaknesses as a poet though...you can take any subject and any style and turn it into a masterpiece...nobody would have guessed that you weren't a mythology buff upon reading this piece...the last line is as good a line as I've read anywhere...you taught me something I didn't know about before with this piece...amazing...xo

Amazing artwork and story in the poem. I was a Soldier. Drank in more Pubs and taverns than I should had. I like the discussion of old gods and spirits. You taught me a new one today. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

Exactly, it so figures! I heard the banshee calling and had to write about you! Just saying ;)
Oh this reminded me of Bodica instantly is dificult not to actually. Depending that is where your geographical soul mythology resides. But the ruler of the Iceni tribe and well just about killed with the intension to defend that is, to protect her ideals, her land, her divinity and it is quite incredible really all this lines capture scenes related to her life without having that as the original intention.

A sweet battlecry

Thankyou

Nessuna scusa necessarie, quasi non parlano Italiano sia, ma grazie ancora.
Ha the celtic in this made me feel right at home. Legend told in your usual deeply descriptive and flavoursome style. I think the soldiers were often given drugs to get them in the mood for battle and perhasps this is where the legend arose.
