Unwanted Reflection

My friends are graduating, I'll be a little bit late but they're going now. They're leaving and I only have myself to blame. I wish I had been able to have gone with them.

The people around me are finished
They stand up, I sit still
They're going for the door slowly
I look their way and I appeal

''Please don't leave me'' I whisper
My voice wavers, unable to let them hear
My throat threatens to tremble
Alas no sound appears

Only few remain sitting with me
All struck with the same guilt
The same regrets we all share
We mourn our loss tears spilt

Everyone knew who to blame
For a blunder this profound
Cast the guilty in the mirror
And behold ourselves renowed

I agree with some of the other reviews...in that you are being too hard on yourself, for whatever reason; we make mistakes all the time, but we can't keep blaming ourselves.....we have to put blunders behind us and move to a better place. A very heartfelt write.

We alll make mistakes. Oh my goodness I have made many. Face up to it and tell yourself you can do better. Look in the mirror and say it with conviction. This is a temporary blip, no more than that. We learn by our mistakes. Relatable write. Good luck.

Yes, it can be a temporary blip, but it can also become a mountain, if you let it. Your lines clearly show your hurt and disappointment as well as regret. This reader can feel that, but only you have the power to do anything about it. The negative feelings you have now won't always feel as strong. You convey your emotions well by the way.
