To My Past I Pray

To My Past I Pray

A Poem by Will B.

Everyday I wait and see

What new grandeur you hold for me

My love for you as strong as men

Your love for me is mice of ten

I give what I can by daily routine

Your wits for me, I know are keen

Why then must it take so long?

To make you mine and find our song

I see another in your eyes so fair

My love for you makes me not dare

I sorrow for us for we will never be

Like an owl and a sparrow away in some tree

I serve and I watch as my courage slips away

For I should have tried but yesterday

As bells and rice are chimed and thrown

Your two words the wind has blown

For today is the day I watch you leave

My heart and my sense at once I heave

Everyday I sit and see

You and your husband joyously

Why did I wait to ask your hand?

My words to me seem much too bland

Your mother and father, the problem they’re not

For me in their minds I am forgot

How in the world do I look at you

Your beautiful brown hair and your blue tennis shoe

When remembering when your were mine

While too young to dance or to dine

But to you my love so sweet

Everyday in prayers I say before I eat:

“Lord be with her for she is now pleased

While I may grieve, my pride be seized

Bless her home and her spouse

For I know today love you will douse

Keep their bond strong as long as I live

Let my love go like sand through a sieve

Blessed art we from the lord of love

To let us learn and love like doves

Thank you lord as I say in your name

Amen I say daily the same”

My love for you, this psalm I write

While by your side and the limelight

I wish the best for you and your lover

“As I have loved you love one to another”

This is a message that is sad, but it is also a good message. Instead of wishing her marriage ill, you pray for her happiness. That is a sign of true love. She has two who love her, while many pray for one.

A selfless attitude such as this will not go unrewarded.

In the description it says that this is the first thing that you ever wrote. This is a mastery of the quatrain. It reads well. With this as the first, I feel that you have started strong.

This is a great poem, with an excellent message.

And with a beginning to writing like that, how could you do anything but write!?!?! This is so beautiful!! It's sad and depressing, but in the end you lift us back up with your prayer and well wishes. You are a big man for all that, my dear!! Excellent write!

Wow! This is very powerful. I love the way you are so vulnerable with the reader. To expose the hurts and at the same time the heartfelt blessings you bestow upon 'her'. This is what love is about, what's best for the person you love.
Tho it's sad, there is hope. This person has so much character! This type of action won't go unrewarded.
I pray what you pray over them comes back upon you, multiplied!!!
Blessings,
Kelly
