Wind Flowers

Wind Flowers

A Poem by icelandicblue

Tall stalks sway
in meadows blazed
with color

and I

hear a collective sigh
as the wind caresses
their delicate heads;

faces turned to the light
they whisper to look

at the mystery,
the history
and simplicity
that keeps them
in place, and still

they dance in unison
across the endless sky.

A beautiful bit of imagery here. I love the idea of dancing wildflowers in the breeze...reminds me of a place that I used to visit as a child, called Wonder Valley. The only tiny little issue I had was that in the entire piece, there is so much movement attributed to the flowers as the wind caresses their heads, and then in the line "in place, and still" they seem sedintary--I would just choose a different word than "still". Overall, this is beautifully done; simple and sublime.

these are the kinds of words i love to read, a breath of fresh air, a song on the wind, poetry that floats like red leaves in the fall, beautiful . . .

aw, thank you :)
Stunning, the wildflowers are in bloom all over Texas and your poem captures the beauty and essence that is nature in her truest form. Blue, my friend, very nice.
