The Ablution of The Soul

The Ablution of The Soul

A Poem by icelandicblue

Sometimes we live the unlivable,
buried beneath burdens
of fate and ill luck.

So we spread sweet attar into our skin
letting it soak into the empty crevices
of longing and despair.

We grasp our humanity
letting it bleed and bleed
with mercy and kindness

while bathing in untroubled waters
beneath the pale moon,
washing away the sting of sorrows-

debriding old wounds steeped in regret,
excising the infection of disappointment,
scouring grudges and anguish

until we are scrubbed clean
and wrapped tightly in the soft fabric
of living simply and simply living.

My body glows
Like a beacon
To those
Who are finding
Their way.

Giving them hope
Where none existed
Before now.

A simple gesture
Nothing more
But worth everything
In the world
To them.

We all have a reason to be here. Lessons to learn and to teach. The gift of hope is truly priceless.

We can't change the world, but we can change how we feel about it. Tranquility is only a thought away. The world is a tyrant & clown who at times needs to be both ignored, and laughed at.

You're welcome!
An interesting progression. One that nearly parallels my own life. Shedding the negative, focusing on the present with an education courtesy of my past.

Thank you Mark. It seems a journey many of us make.
Sometimes when we are so bummed out from life we just need to take a seat and attempt to rest before we get too tired out then, we get up and continue down the road trying to dodge obstacles.

So true, thank you noodle.
...wrapped tightly in the soft fabric
of living simply and simply living.

A lesson learned from experience; life gets so complicated that the only remedy is simplicity. Great write, profound and well written, Blue.

Thanks BR, I'm trying.
Indeed, fellow poet... as life goes on, the years fly by and the mind matures, we all strive for common goals. Ridding the negativity and obtaining simplicity. Beautiful.
