His Wrath

His Wrath

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

A wife in a abusive marriage!

"

Bruised and battered from your fury wrath,

I pray for deliverance.

You spew out how disgraceful I am with wicked lips.

Love for me has vanished from your heart.

Did you ever love me?

You seize me with such potency.

I beg for mercy.

Your wrath is bountiful, never runs dry.

Your countenance mirrors your true self.

Enlighten me where I went wrong.

your eyes show silent laughter.

Evil flows through your veins,

spilling out like lava erupting from a volcano.

Oppressions weigh heavy on my heart.

Meditation keeps me going,

strengthens me to face each day.

But I'm growing tired, weak,

I want to rest.

Sometimes I beg for the sleep of death.

Fantastic poem and subject. Key line "enlighten me where I went wrong." The crucial dilemma! Womans' weakest link! Still thinking that in some way she must be to blame. Of course they are not to blame at all and only when they digest that realiity can they break the circle of violence and hatred. Just a brilliant brilliant read. This does a real service for readers especially those trapped in the domestic violence cycle.

I hate this poem! and in a good way. Abuse is a horrible trap, I hope your poem reaches someone in need.

This is an amazing poem. The power and emotion, the imagery, all of it is wonderful. Very good.

Wrath: the vengeance, punishment, or destruction
wreaked by somebody in anger. Sadly relationships
lose their sparkle and we always ask ourselves how
why and what went wrong. The answers are always
vague… A great read…

this is touching, powerful and can relate to it very much, as I've been in a similar situation... i don't know why men do it?...

Abuse is everywhere...we live in a society where tolerance is like an excuse...can you imagine if we didn't have any laws...I can't understand how somebody can have a relationship just to abuse their spouse...

nice work....

I have seen such helplessness and hopelessness on women's faces when I worked as a therapist. The isolation and lack of hope often leave them thinking nothing but death will end their pain. It's not true....in most cases there is hope. Great job with this one!
