Another Day

Another Day

A Poem by Jack...
"

Just another day? Never when I have you

"

Another day

And the skies find blue

On this morning in the city

With the temperature so warm

As I stand to find the meaning

Over asphalt centered lanes

With the street lights set on twinkle

When a billboard reaches out

With a message for the masses

Still my every thought is you

And I dream

~Chosen by my eyes to see the wonders love is bringing

Floating in my mind like endless butterflies a’ winging

Melodies of love as every meadowlark is singing

And I dream…oh I dream~

People rushing by

At an endless rate of hurry

With their boot straps in a bind

You can see their frowning faces

That watch upon their arms

Flashing minutes changing hours

Till the meetings that they meet

And the notes they will be taking

Still my every thought is you

And I dream

~My heart it skips a beat within the rhythm of your smile

Sea shells on a beach now dance in ocean waving style

Meadows filled with green where we may lay a little while

And I dream…oh I dream~

Traffic jams ensue

Waving fists and shouting plenty

Driving slower than a snail

Move along we’re in a hurry

But the radio does play

I ignore the mass confusion

For the song that I now hear

Is the one you like to dance to

For my every thought is you

And I dream

~Cotton candy clouds project the colors of the evening

In and out of life with all the happiness now weaving

I am coming home, your open arms so soon receiving

And I dream…oh I dream~

I love the descriptions of the chaos, and the smooth flow of serenity, intertwined. Uniquely you, Jack! :)

Thanks so much Rita. Smiles find me when you visit.
I love how you change from the hectic to the serene in this poem. No matter how busy it is around us we can always escape into ourselves.

OH JACK, you've gone and done it again my friend, another sweet sigh on the page, this is awesome, and I hate to use that word but it is full of awe, yes. I love the serenity found amidst the hustle and bustle, just the thought of a loved one can bring peace to our harts & soul. Just

Lol I must have missed that story, you're quackers Jack. ;-P
Magical and wonderful.....my ears filled with the background noise of busy streets then serene quiet when the stanza changed. We are often in two places at once...our mundane lives and the brilliance of our dreams. Love this one Jack... ;-)

Red, I always appreciate your visits. Thanks so much.
i love this...love i the city despite all the hecticness shared by so many...

she is that meadow, that breath of fresh air, the heartbeat that slows it all down to a crawl---

she is my floating cloud, my ocean, my sea breeze...

that honking seems so far away...

Wow Jacob, coming from an amazing poet like yourself, you humble me. Thank you so very much.
Simply lovely, Jack. Even while on a busy street, with everyone hurrying to there destinations, there is romance which you capture beautifully in this piece. There is always time to dream of love that encompasses one's heart and soul. Good imagery, flow and tone. Beautiful use of simile about love:
"Floating in my mind like endless butterflies" - I love the gracefulness of this descriptive/comparison. Lovely depth of feeling as are the dreams that express the beauty and romance seen in nature. Excellent closing thought. Delightful. Well penned. Write on!

How the mundane becomes profane and valueless when compared to love. Nicely penned Jack! One typo in the second 'verse' (not chorus) it should be 'my' one 'me'?

I like the on and out of the busting city life... and the other side of you else where trying to grasp it all... the repeating stanza sets a tone for the reader... the to and for of this flows... takes you in and you consume the whole meaning...
