Crimson Sky

Crimson Sky

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin

To the depths of ebbing sunset-sky horizon;
vivid coral and gold echo
within a rainbow's wash across heaven's expanse.

I pull away in thought,just for a moment
Pondering,until my attention is again pulled back
to the above spacious grace of God's glorious art-piece.

These eyes behold joy's beauty once again.

Heaven's panorama; Glow upon glow,
 almost a pulse matches my heart.
This soul longs to fly into Heaven's blazing glory
 just for a while, amidst rainbow layers falling upward!

Precious is the gift of ready sky being held at no cost;
simply to accept, to will, to wait;
Till again come glimpses of God's presence
in the thrill of the next sunset!

So soft and beautiful, the elegance of the painted sky, colored by God's own hand. I remember so many sacred skies when I stood on the shoreline in Oregon where my mother was born. Your words remind me of these wonders so well.

I really dig this! It reads like a nature prayer. Beautiful imagery. Lovely wording. Nice title. What else could one ask for? What praise. He is a master painter now isn't he.

Wow, such a peaceful, lovely image. The sunset is truly one of God's great gifts, and so is such a beautiful description of it. I'm so glad I stopped by to read.

Your spirituality shines through the lines of this poem. Yes, there is so much beauty to drink in all around us and the show is free of charge. Only a poet notices the little things. "Rainbow layers falling upward"...what a concept! I enjoyed this. Lydi**

A amazing and beautiful poem.

The above lines are true. If we look to the sky. Falling and the rising of the sun. We do see a miracle. Thank you Kathy for sharing the excellent poetry.

Yes yes yes, so very true.
What a beautiful & original way to describe a sunset. Let me tell you, I've read a million that all say it in a predictable way, that's why I so love your interesting word choices & the creativity of likening a sunset to the way we feel about God's glow shining down upon us. You've made this scene your own & you've conveyed it with a nice mixture of imagery & faithful feelings.

i thinks poem proves something....as poets, we can be lost in thought, lost in our poetry...we can be inspired and write the most colorful, absorbing thoughts...but what we can never really do is capture
the true essence of nature...there are no words to really capture the exactness, the preciseness of it all...

there is a way it works that no typewriter or keyboard can really frame.
