Five Minutes

Five Minutes

A Poem by Lover Of Words

One day I look at the clock
Boy how time has passed
How I treasure the ones I love
In my heart, they under lock and key
When you lose one
That you thought would be here forever
Just never thought this longing
Would happen too me too
How I wish I had five more minutes
With my grandfather
Who now lives in my heart
And it aches for him so bad
It causes me too be so sincerely sad

I agree with your thoughts in the poem. Minutes become important when the people we love are gone. I wish to hear the old voices of my elders everyday. Thank you for the excellent poem.

"In my heart, they under lock and key"
I believe that "they" should be "they're".

"Would happen too me too"
The first "too" should only have one "o".

In the last line, "too" should be "to".

Anyways. Kelsey, all of these poems that you post about your grandfather make me cry! It's been 4 months and I miss mine like crazy as well :( They're so beautiful and full of love, yet also full of loss, sorrow, and sadness. This is beautiful, and you can really tell that it was written from the heart. Great write Kelsey (:

There are so many that I could say that about, but I really don't think Five minutes would ever be enough, I'm not being selfish, I don't think, but if I could get any of them back, I would only need a day, no, perhaps a day and a half, hmmmm no, Maybe 2 days.......I don't think if I ever got them back I would ever want them to go again. It's prolly better that those that have left us can't come back. However, when they entered your life, they as well entered your heart, and although they have left this earth, there still there in your heart and I guess that will have to do. Still, it would be nice to........oh well......good read
