![]() BloodA Story by Kacie Delane Davis Blood Lane sat on the park bench watching the sunset. It was like a beautiful painting. She admired all the colors. Purple, red, pink, orange, and blue of course. It was gorgeous to her. She wished she could watch sunsets all the time. To her they were the prettiest things in the world. The only thing that could make watching sunsets better was Jace’s arms wrapped around her. She pulled out her phone and sent a text to Jace Meet me at my house. I’ll be there in ten minutes. He replied k ; ) <3 As Lane started on her way home everything was eerily silent. Even the birds were quiet. The clouds moved over the moon making the night even more sinister. Her heart sped up slightly. She whistled a song and picked up her pace. She was about five minutes away when a hand shot out of a bush and covered her mouth. Their hands wrapped duct tape tightly around her wrist and she let out a loud whimper. They began to drag her into the bush out of sight. She started to cry. “Don’t say a word. Understood?” he said She nodded and began shacking. Once inside the bush she felt a sharp pain in the middle of her back. Her eyes fluttered and she slowly fell unconscious. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** When Lane awoke she was chained to a wall. Her feet were dangling, not really touching the ground. She looked around. “Please. Anyone. Help.” she tried to yell but it came out barely audible. She heard a door creak open. A man about “5’11” stood there wearing a ski mask. In his right hand was some kind of controller sand in his left…was a knife. Lane let out a quiet gasp. I’m going to die. She thought He slammed the metal door closed behind him. The sound made her jump. “Hello” he said sweetly yet menacing. “I’m glad you have finally awoken.” She gasped and looked around at her surroundings. She was in a windowless room and the only exit was a steel door with an enormous lock on it, the kind you would see in cartoons. The only light illuminated off of the two candles on either side of her. Lane looked at the iron chains on her wrist. They were slightly thin. She tugged at them, but very strong. There were black and yellow wires attached to them leading somewhere into the darkness. “W…Why am I here?” she asked. He laughed, his dark eyes piercing through her. “I love the sound of agonized screams” he began “They appeal to me so much” He pressed a red button on the controller. She screamed. “That’s 600 volts of electricity honey.” “Stop! Please! I haven’t done anything. I’m supposed to be meeting my boyfriend.” He pressed another button on the controller a blue one and Lane was instantly relieved. “He’s already here. Jace, I believe it is.” He pointed to a limp figure in a corner. He walked over to him and punched him in the stomach. He groaned. “Jace!” He coughed and blood flew form his lips. “Lane, Lane I’ll save you.” What has he done to you? She thought The man walked over to her and leaned towards her. “My favorite part about killing,” he began his lips brushing against her ear “Is watching them die. It’s very interesting.” Although he knew he couldn’t reach her, Jace reached out towards Lane as the man pressed the button. She began to scream. The man walked over to him and revealed the knife. He stabbed him in his side in one swift motion. Jace looked at Lane passionately. If he died he wanted her to be the last thing he saw. Her screaming grew louder “You bastered! Leave her alone!” Jace snapped. The dark-eyed man prepared to stab him again. Thinking quickly Jace kicked the man in his private making him drop the knife and the controller. He hurriedly but skillfully tossed the knife into his hand with his foot. And he thought tae kwon do would never pay off. “She’s going to suffer because of you now.” he growled. He picked up the controller and turned a dial. “No!” she cried “Please!” He pressed the red button. She began screaming. Jace rapidly picked at the lock with the knife. “Come on” he whispered. Lane’s breathing became labored. She started gasping and her heart beat became irregular. She started shaking uncontrollably. “Stop!” she gasped as Jace broke the lock. He lunged at the man knocking them both to the ground. He pressed the button on the controller to end Lane’s suffering. She breathed in long gasp. “Where’s the key!” he demanded “You can have it when I’m dead,” the man spat. Jace held the knife above his heart. “Have it your way.” He plunged the knife deep into the chest of the man. The blade was nearly invisible. Then he pulled it out and stabbed him again over and over. Blood began to seep from his mouth. Jace now stood over the man’s dead body. in a puddle of blood, holding the knife with a satisfied smile on his face. Warm blood running down his cheek, dripping from his finger tips. Lane thought for a moment the man had been 100% correct watching him die had been absolutely interesting. He searched the pockets of the man and found the key to the door and to her chains. He unlocked Lane and she fell into his arms. “I love you,” they said in unison, as the man’s dark eyes lost the last spark of life left in them. Lane looked at the man. Not letting go of Jace’s hand she bent over his body and pulled of the mask. Then she slapped him in the face as hard as she possibly could. “Rot in hell” she whispered. With that Jace unlocked the door of their prison and they walked away into the light of the rising sun. © 2012 Kacie Delane Davis |
