A wayfarer's serendipity.

A wayfarer's serendipity.

A Poem by Fairy Khan

Beyond what you see,
my words fail me,
this is an odyssey,
of my years to twenty-three.

The desire to be free,
owing none an apology,
for unfurling the dark prophecy,
but in all modesty.

Young prodigy,
seeking peace constantly,
stuck between the devil
and the deep blue sea.

Thinking probably,
solace is a luxury,
this is an odyssey,
of my spiralling honesty.

The demons of hypocrisy,
and the tedious monotony,
of unending catastrophe,
got the best of me.

Blind as those who do not see,
barking up the wrong tree,
love I think is an anomaly,
some ancient Greek philosophy.

Silenced by the crooked fantasy,
lost my vanity,
then dignity,
when death seemed better than reality,
that's where I discerned the Majesty.

Trapped in a living tragedy,
began to doubt my sanity,
humans I could see,
but no humanity,
fell on my knees and
there glimpsed Thee.

When the world abandoned me,
He found me lost and guided me,
this right here is an odyssey,
of my divine melancholy.

A amazing journey in your words.

I did like the above lines my friend. Sometime we need a helping hand to know where we are going. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

The flow and rhyming in this tale simply floats off the page as the struggle with love and its pains leads one to a salvation of faith.

What a pleasant read, you can really turn a phrase. It feels like the rhymes have always been, existed from the beginning of our language and you just laid them here so neatly.

That's really overwhelming. Thank you so much for your kind words.
This was so good. The stress falls where it should, it demands to be spoken aloud.

This is no quiet read
these words must be freed
spoken indeed
their most urgent need

So speak it out loud
away from the crowd
feel the taste of these words
honest and proud

and call it a rap
maybe call it a wrap?
feel with the beat..
...pause..
it does not need to be..
...complete

I will watch to see what comes next, well done.

this is so good at twenty-three or any age...shows wisdom and talent beyond years...
Maybe we should leave love to the Greeks...maybe it is theirs to understand, not ours.
and it is our "divine Melancholy" that appears to be the driving force behind what we put on the page.

Thank you so much for recognising my efforts. I really appreciate your comment.
Many things I love about your poem . . . first being the way it starts out reminding me of today's topsy-turvy world (I'm always wondering how young people can stand it, frankly!) . . . and then as your poem reaches deeper into my own personal madness, I'm transported to my youth & this poem can also apply to THAT topsy-turvy world as well (vietnam war, exploiting the planet, civil rights, nixon/watergate scandal). Just when I think today's world is the most outrageous it's ever been, then I remember the strife of my earlier years & realize we humans have been wreaking havoc forever. I love all the uninhibited expressions that make your sentiments feel fresh & imaginative, even if on the path to going a little nuts! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Haha. You are always welcome. The "pot" wouldn't hit the pot if you didn't have it in you.
Ah, the author knows what she wants, but alas is no nearer finding it. I felt a sense of deep inner struggle here. However, I also found resilience here too. A helping hand when you needed it most Fairy. Hoping for better days. Deeply felt poetry.
