The N****r Word.

The N****r Word.

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A challenge to those that still think it appropriate to use this foul word of hate and oppression.

"

A blast of hatred of acid tongues,

A needless phrase to scold the tall,
A forgotten hero they never mention,
Take a look at the one called Robert Smalls.

A swipe by fist of foul means,
A dangerous concoction of sparks,
A cowards language of sorts,
Take a look at the one called Rosa Parks.

A definition of weakness in ruling,
A slap in the face of the now free,
A collapsed cult now gone forever,,
Take a look at the one called Isabella Baumfree.

A word is a word to fight and hurt,
A sentence pinned together from fools,
A paragraph of silence descends upon you,
The N word no longer a relevant tool.

Just a tiny insight of my hatred for the oppression of Black people everywhere, there fight I think will never end, but the minds of those ignorant must be changed.

I agree with you completely Thomas people's minds need to be changed, they look at one thing and characterize all black people which isn't fair. Your poem was amazing, and I liked how you said "Take a look at the one called..." This is my all-time favorite poem by you. The N word is no longer a reverent tool. OUTSTANDING!!

Excellent poem! I love "A paragraph of silence descends upon you" - I wish silence WOULD descend upon those who oppress and belittle others.

I believe the N word should never be used and there are other words I believe shouldn't be used toward people either. Retarded is one that irks me as well. Do you know in the US the technical term for people who are mentally challenged is the word retarded? It is crazy in this day and age that we still have words of great hate that people use. People fear what they do not understand so in this day and age it is time to put that fear that is backed by anger aside and get to know the person within the outer appearance.

Amazing to see how times have changed, seems like only yesterday Lincoln freed the slaves and Martin had a dream. Slowly but thank God, we're getting there. Excellent read.

When I was growing up I never knew there was such hatred in the world. I was friends with people of every race. It wasn't until I got older that I really understood just how narrow minded some people can be. Even today when I meet a person I do not notice them for their skin color. Usually my first impression is based upon how they act or talk. ^^* But this was a wonderful poem touching base with a serious issue.

I agree too! It's not right for black pple to be treated like the way they are! I'm really impressed and proud to see a friend stand up for what they believe in. Great poem and even Better message great job bro

This was just...wow. I am impressed! It's refreshing to see someone who knows their history so well. Your writing is great, I look forward to reading more of your work! it's interesting though, how we claim change has taken place when each day we go about our day silently judging those around us in our minds. We're judgemental creatures. It's inevitable. However, how we choose to act upon that criticism is what defines us as a person. Anyway, back to your poem, I loved this piece! Très bien!

A very strong piece, completely agree with you, no one should be judged by the colour of their skin, the amount of people who have died over this is ridiculous, we were all born as equals, it's what we do and what we say that makes us who we are
