September 11th

A Poem by Thomas Fitzgerald
"

A follow up on my poem "The Game of War"

"
The soaring on high,

The crashing out loud,

The scream of pain,

The screams of now,

The flesh that was ripped,

The lives that were taken,

Some have forgot,
None have forsaken.

Their ARE existence pausing moments... and the sheer barbarity of them IS mind disparaging. Our media brings everything to the table AS it happens and thereafter bombards the captive audience until we become numb to the events and their replays. A strong write Tom.

"The screams of pain, the screams of now" Some wounds heal easier than other's but without question there people who still suffer because of what happened that day. This was a good attempt to capture that moment.

To be honest, I felt like this was a bit forced. Maybe you just picked a topic and rolled with it. I don't know. It may just have to do with my not-so-patriotic nature, but I didn't really like it. However, you pulled off the imagery really well, and that's worth a very decent rating on its own.

I remember that day I was so scared, truly scared. I was in seventh grade at the time and I remember a woman coming into our social studies class and panicking. She told us what happened and all the students were sent to the auditorium for the rest of the day. Beautiful tribute!

Another good poem. I liked the last two lines the best. It tied the rest of the poem together. "Some have forgot,/None have forsaken."

Tragic wrapped with your prayers so it's got a tinge of a self-help involved.

This day will certainly be one that most will never forget. You've tackled yet another difficult subject Thomas, unfortunately, it is one that many will prefer not to discuss and try to avoid thinking about.
