A Poem by knightcall

i know you're a stranger
but can i ask you to
sit down for awhile
you see i'm tired of
talking to myself
and could use a woman's voice to
tell me that they're listening

i promise you
i'll do no harm
conversation is all i'm after
won't you share
your lilting melody with me

i'm a man that's broken
and i need the empathy of
someone soft and strong
being alone is one thing but
being invisible is a different thing altogether

i want to thank you for
taking the time
you look very important in
your business suit and
your hair combed back
i'm sure you've got important things to do

it was only a fraction of the clock
but time means nothing to me
i shared a connection
i shared a conversation
but mostly i shared contact
and i've been missing for so long

A sad and solemn poem, yet there seemed to be a sense of happiness as well when he found a woman to talk to and to listen to him. I found myself wanting to keep him company. An excellent poem..well written. Something so simple to bring him happiness. This exists in a lot of people, lonely, needing not riches in monetary value but the riches of a friend. Excellent..I loved it!!
