A Poem by Kristin Lee
"

This is what home should feel like

"

Toes painted like wildflowers

Squish purposefully into wet sand

Leaving footprints behind me,

Echoes of harsh realties I’ve endured.

As cool waves crash upon me

Playfully showering my skin with salty spray

All my past sins and transgressions

Begin to wash away.

Capturing the essence of something so pure

Can only be done where hope is interred

This is why I’ve been called here,

To the only home I’ve ever known.

Here, where deep blue waves

Rise like majestic Titans

To greet the sun kissed horizon

As if she were their God

This nirvana is a veritable bounty of sensation

Requiring all anxiety be checked at the door

One of the oceans secrets…

She restores the soul’s tranquility,

From upon her breathtaking shores.

I love this scene of healing waters.

Love those little multi-colored toes in the sand. Yes, there is magic in the sea. I think all hospitals should be seaside.

There is something about the Pacific Coast that is healing in a sense, a place we can always call home.

Capturing the essence of something so pure
Can only be done where hope is interred
This is why I’ve been called here,
To the only home I’ve ever known.

You have captured your emotions so beautifully, penning them through vivid use of imagery...job well done Kristin. Another fav!

I love the meaning behind this poem. How home can be anywhere, not just a house with your family. But that place where you feel accepted and all your mistakes from the past no longer seem so bad. You just feel accepted. All is right and you feel at...well home. Great job :)

I like the idea of having transgressions washed away in the surf. That would make all surfers saints I guess. That would be Cowabunga dude!! I also liked the idea that when we return home, we may have our own personal Nirvana, or place where we are one with the world and feel it's greatness.

Your words paint a beautiful image and sing the song of home, Kristin!

Here, where deep blue waves
Rise like majestic Titans
To greet the sun kissed horizon
As if she were their God

This is wonderfully descriptive - a truly gorgeous poem!

I can relate to missing home, when I lived in the Middle East for 8 years I would always get quite homesick and want to come home. It's a tough thing, when all your family are half way across the world, I know you might not be that far away but yeah, I can relate. Lovely job, emotional and I loved the wording.
