Last year

For remembrance day

Last year I bowed my head

last year I said a prayer

last year I honored the soldiers that died but I didn't really care

 last year I was respectful but I couldn't truly show

the pain and sorrow that comes with losing someone you know

This year you went and left us

this year you went to war

this year you left  a hole in my heart remains forever sore

This year I bowed my head and I couldn't stop the tears

to lose someone you truly love is what everybody fears

This year I hope you're safe with God

This year I know what to do

I promise that on remembrance Day

I will always remember you

Loved it but the last two lines for me just arent working. I thought it was great in emotional expression. Word choice was creative. The subject was passion filled. Good work.

Powerful, emotional and heart breaking. I love it. Again with nitpicks the final two lines read oddly, but I'm not sure why.
