This Morning My Spirit Cried (True Story)

This Morning My Spirit Cried (True Story)

A Poem by Lee Foreman
"

I wrote this poem during a time where my husband and I were going through hardships (financial) and I was at a lost. My great- grandmother spoke to me and said "Keep living, it gets better'.

"

This Morning My Spirit Cried (true story)

The cry was silent, enough for me to hear-

But strong enough for God to feel.

This morning my spirit cried;

I felt my eyes getting teary.

My spirit said “God, my body’s getting weary.”

I felt these tears steady flowing-

By my faith, MY faith kept on holding.

It wasn’t pain, fear, or doubt my spirit possessed,

It was the cry of a spirit that wanted peace and rest.

As my spirit continued crying-suddenly

Another spirit stepped in.

My spirit listened, and the tears came to an end.

This spirit’s voice was recognizable

I heard this voice before,

The calmness in her voice lasts forever more.

She said “keep living, it gets better.”

My spirit in me smiled and started to settle.

So I wiped my last tear that started to flow,

I said “God is working”, this I know.

life gets as good as you let it get...you can be a decent person...do for others.. treat people with kindness ad respect...and enjoy what you're doing either at work or raising a family. Nothing is easy nor did anybody promise it would be...but if we can see our way through and make a difference then our lives have purpose and meaning. I think this is what your great grandmother was telling you.
Technically, your write lacked a bit of rhythm or flow for me. Perhaps due to your erratic rhyme scheme or meter. I'm not sure. That is not to say I didn't like it...I did. Your rhyming, especially near or slant rhyming was rather impressive and I think I was trying to read to my beat instead of yours.
Anyway, terrific write Lee. Your great grandmother would be proud.
Hope your hardships are over and far and few between

"A cry in the sky, they call it rain. A cry in the desert, they call it a mirage. A cry in the heart, that they shall call it a whisper.

For what falls down from the sky are but the tears that we can't even produce when we are impoverished. They belong where the stars come from as they are priceless and heavy they rinse out what needs to be cleaned so that we could feel better.

For what is the unseen in the eye truly we call it out and still it appears to us until we realize it's gone. It's not something we are supposed to have but it something that we must cherish in our heart and soul. This is what it means to treasure what is in our heart and soul.

For what is it that speaks so softly yet so teary that we can't begin to understand their thoughts. Is it not of a cry of a person that falls on their knees? It is in humanity that we learn we are weak in some ways but no way we will be fatigued of it for we are raised up. We are lifted to our feet and make our own decision again to change. For those words of, "It gets better." it will and it shall because what life teaches us we must be ready to take it again and face it with a better knowledge so that we may produce a better outcome."

You have a wonderful great grandmother. It goes on and that's what life is. We move forward to change and when it brings us down we'll get back up. This we know because no man will fall from where they came from as a hand will reach out to them and make them who they are. :)

This is one of those works that shows strength and faith through pain and weariness. I think that if more people tried to *honestly* follow their faith, this would be a better world. Keep sharing this with others, and let them feel the honest emotion throughout the poem.
