Descendants

A Chapter by Lewys Tapscott-Nott
"

This is the point where everything starts to unfold for the protagonists and they set off on the heroes journey.

"

'what was their to say?'

They had just been attack by a weird bat creature, that will be something to tell their parents.

Once they reached Bolins house, Agathe sighs and faces her two friends.

"The most important thing is to uncover what that thing is."

Agathe instructs them.

"We can do that during break and lunch on our phones."

"I have 4G."

Carissa suggests.

"How though?"

"Projections?"

"I saw no lights."

Carissa points out.

Bolin was stumped, 'Carissa always has to be right.'

"Text you later."

Agathe says.

Whilst walking Carissa home, she turns to Carissa.

Agathe walks in, and looks in on her family.

"Sorry I'm late."

Her mother groans.

"And why were you so late?"

Agathe froze on the spot.

"Heres the thing mum, I can't explain where I have been, because its impossible."

The parents sit down mouths wide open.

"Oh my god, Agathe!

are you having a baby?"

"Mum! no way, Nothing like that."

"Then, what's so complicated?"

Her father asks concerned.

"Promise you won't think I'm crazy?"

"What on earth could you say that can make us think that?"

'How on earth am I going to tell them?'

"We were attacked by giant bats."

The parents had their mouth's wide open, speechless.

"I didn't mean it like that, I meant - "

"You were attacked by a Gargoyle."

"Excuse me, I'm not sure I heard you clear enough, I thought you said a Gargoyle."

"We did!"

"But " how?"

Her mother makes Agathe a hot chocolate, this was going to be good.

"Well, Agathe, You're not a everyday girl."

"What do you mean?"

"Your a demigod!"

"I'm a? " No, there's no such thing!"

"Hate to burst your all - knowing bubble, but there is."

"That's the thing about legends Agathe. (they could be true)"

"So, legends are true?"

Agathe tries to process the thought in her mind.

"Most of them are."

"All of them are."

Her father rolls his eyes.

"Graham! she needs to know, lets not wrap it up in a nice parcel for her."

"She's meant to know on her 18th birthday."

"I think whatever is happening concerns her very much."

"Oh, for goodness sake!"

Agathe roars, slightly annoyed with how crazy her day was,

'why did she even bother to get up this morning?'

There was silence for half an hour, Agathe just did not what to say to this news.

'A demigod? her? could this be any crazier?'

"Where are they hiding?"

"Oh, they aren't hiding sweetheart!

they just know how to blend in."

"This isn't Harry bloody Potter."

"Less of that Bev."

"We better warn Bolin and Carissa's parents."

"I already called them earlier."

"Hold on."

Her parents all look at her, as if judging.

"What's all this got to do with Bolin and Carissa?"

Agathe asks, hoping they would say nothing.

"Carissa is the descendant of Hermes, Belen's the descendant of Nike, and your the descendant of Hercules."

'Yes, it did just get more crazy.

'Was this all a bad dream?'

'Maybe I ate too much cheese last night.'

Agathe thought.

Agathe then slaps herself.

"What did you do something as queer as that for?"

Her mother says.

"It's not a dream, I'm still here."

Agathe then bursts out laughing.

"Very funny you two! brilliant joke! although, the gargoyle coming to life was a tad bit overdramatic, don't you think?"

"For goodness sake you stupid girl! None of this is a joke."

"Were completely serious."

Agathe then stopped laughing.

"But, how can this be possible?"

"Don't ask us."

"Were just humans."

Agathe's phone rings, it was Carissa.

"Hi Carissa."

"Hi Agathe, what the hell is going on here?"

"I don't know, what are your parents telling you?"

"Nothing, yours?"

"Nothing as yet.

catch you in the Facebook group chat."

"You too."

Agathe hangs up, she did not speak to her parents all evening until they came to her.

"You need to move away."

"What? why?!"

"You need to learn the ways of the gods, and the only way to do that is too travel."

Her mother gives Agathe a map.

"You must travel to Olympus with Agathe and Bolin, it will be a long trip.

However, we saved money for you to provide you with food and transport. ('only' food and transport!)"

"I understand."

"You don't."

"Neither of you do, you are still very young. (but you will)"

For once in her life her mother looks close to tears.

"You will need to leave at midnight, (no sooner, no later)

is that clear?"

"Yes, clear."

That very evening Agathe prepares to leave,

Agathe comes across a photograph of her parents, smiling and happy at her 8th birthday.

Agathe's mother knocks on the door.

"I thought I would wish you a good evening, unfortunately we can't grantee we will be up to wish you a safe trip, but you have our numbers."

Agathe lifts her head up.

"Yes I understand, thank you for everything."

Her mother then turns to the envelope.

"There should enough in there (combined with Bolin and Carissa's money) to get into a hotel straight after leaving our town."

"Thank you."

Agatha, had always dreamed of this moment, although in much more happier circumstances.

11:20, time to check and see if everything was packed.

As Agathe departed, she looked back to take one last good look, and then walked off to see Bolin and Carissa.

Bolin had a egg sandwich packed, along with his lucky trophy, and Carissa had pork pies.

"We can get food once were at the hotel, having it is too much weight."

Bolin nods agreeing and throws his food into the river.

Carissa walks on ahead to Agathe.

"What do you suppose will happen to us?"

"I don't know, but whatever happens, we will face it together or not at all."
