Crossing Paths

Crossing Paths

A Chapter by Lewys Tapscott-Nott

Agathe steps out of her tent to find the fire had been put out, possibly by the rain.

Bolin wakes up with a huge yawn and rubbing his eyes.

"Are you 'Right"? in his best cockney voice.

"No one could ever mistake you for posh Bolin".

"Who says I want to be"?

He had a point there, these days people don't want to be posh.

"Thanks for helping out with Carissa last night".

"Yeah whatever, we need to stick together here on this journey, wherever it may lead us".

Agathe nods with strength to go forward.

"Yes, your right. I say we find a nice cafe somewhere and have some breakfast".

"Sounds like a plan".

Agathe picks up the old burnt sticks and takes them to float down the nearest river.

Carissa wakes up. "Morning sleepyhead".

"What time is it"? Agathe checks her apple watch.

"Quarter-Past eight.

If you get changed we can walk up on the cafe up that hill and grab some breakfast.

We can just wear the clothes we wore yesterday, and use the river water to wash our hair".

Carissa puts her old clothes on.

They walk up the path, leaving no sign that they were there.

"It's safer that we leave as soon as we can, and we leave no trace that we were there".

"What do we do about footprints"?

Agathe scoffs them over.

"It's the best way".

Neither Carissa nor Agathe said a word to each other on the road, there was nothing to say, what happened last night happened, they were tired and stressed.

"Look, Agathe. Are we m8's"?

"Of course, we have known each other for years a little thing like what happened last night will never change that.

We're like sisters, and we always will be".

The old brown cafe was very welcoming to the three friends.

They walk in to find a group of men and crying babies and business men and women with coffee.

Carissa rings the bell.

"What can I get you pair"?

"Two diet Pepsi's and three big breakfasts please".

Agathe then goes on to pick up three straws.

"We need to watch how we spend this money, which is why I couldn't buy an extra Pepsi".

They suck through the straw in enjoyment.

"This is glorious".

Carissa agrees.

"And it's nice and quiet".

It was then Agathe decides to present them with a road map.

"Ok, we are here, and our objective is to get too Dun Laoghaire, our best way is to get a train".

Just behind our trio two men whisper.

"So, where's the Fleece"?

"Some say in Colchis, legend says that anyone who obtains the Fleece everything around them will turn to gold".

Sitting just behind the men was Kono who looks up from his map.
