Teach Me To Whisper

Teach Me To Whisper

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell

Teach me to whisper like early-morn blush against the cheek of the illumined sky.

Teach me to whisper like early-morn blush

against the cheek of the illumined sky,

like the green blades of grass beside the rush

of the river that is hastening by.

Teach me the love that is found in a rose

and written in crimson calligraphy

across the earth, making merry of woes,

in a swirl of fire and epiphany.

Teach me the touch of immortal extent,

wherein forever is found in a flash,

where shadows of thought are an aliment,

a source of life among ruin and ash.

Teach me the hope of the blossoming bud,

tremendously tender and spun sublime,

with her flesh on fire from euphoric blood

and flaming curves that are bedewed with time.

Teach me the truth of mist on the water,

the white shroud of silence that drapes the blue,

where shadows hush like a quiet daughter,

waiting for the winds of a warmer hue.

Teach me the love of a lifetime of bliss,

where warm shades of passion burn like a fire,

where foreplay flutters are born in the kiss

between lips of unquenchable desire.

Teach me the joy that I see in your eyes

whenever I see you looking at me,

in that intimate way you alchemize

and turn my soul into a rhapsody.

Teach me to whisper the words of my heart,

the lover's song that I'm aching to sing

and bridge the distance which keeps us apart

by teaching heart how to lift its redwing.

Incredible...a sublime mix of hearthstone, open skies, and heartbeats.
'Teach me the love that is found in a rose
and written in crimson calligraphy
across the earth, making merry of woes,
in a swirl of fire and epiphany.'

Your touch in this poem beggars description. Where has your work been hiding?

Wonderfully complete and truly, truly original.

Heavy sigh! The beauty of nature combines with the gentleness of true romance to form a stunning love poem. Tender and warm, the imagery dances on the page. Absolutely stunning, Linda. The graphic is beautiful too! Lydi**

I think you with your sweet enticing words here he will know how to direct you, to where you want to go. A beautiful work. Well done and nice word use.

You have a remarkable talent for poetry. The meter, the interplay of words, the themes of nature and wisdom are suffused with Romanticism. Even Wordsworth would be proud reading your work.

Loved reading this,

Keep it up,

Hello Linda. I will admit to being taken off guard by the friend request/recent reviews. You see...I've been gone on a very extended vacation from this place. It's going on two years or more since I've lost my ambition to write. I've maybe shared one poem on the café since that time. But, every now and then my Muse will nudge me to revisit this place just out of curiosity and perhaps vanity. Maybe I'm just hoping for inspiration. Oh hell Linda, not only do I not write anymore, but I really don't review either. But then again; I decided to browse your wall. I felt your passion. A passion to share your art through words. The same kind of passion I used to know. And in sharing this; it provoked my curiosity a little bit more. I decided to read a few of your poems. Dear me, how can someone read something so extravagant and not feel provoked to comment?

And rather than read you; I instead, listened to your vision. You have the uncanny ability to deliver a word like a savory tiny morsel of food. And in truth, I savored every bite of this. These are words of a seasoned writer. You are also, a humble writer with words of wisdom.

And from one writer to another I still plead.

Teach me.

Teach me to feel inspired again.

The clarity of this poem's form is sound, and the rhythm is hypnotic. I found myself succumbing to a literary intoxication, more and more, after reading each line.
Schopenhauer was, at least, correct in that art is perhaps the only freedom from suffering.
This piece delivers such a freedom.

I read this poem again today.
Your word illuminate the need we all have to teach and to be taught...
My thoughts wonder if we need to learn how to whisper as much as when.
Lovely poetry any way you read it.

Soft as a whisper, verses of life, of love's sensual bliss …
as wondrous textures, sensations derived ⁓ through a lover's kiss.

Gosh, Linda Marie … how, almost spiritually, your words wrapped 'round me, flowed across my being, sweeping me into you, into the passionate imagery of your moments, the cadenced flow in word arrangement, rushing of perfect rhymes playing, teasing, having their way … such an enveloping experience carrying me … well, let's say to a place I thoroughly enjoyed.
It's a work so rich in so many aspects of poetical mastery and word-smithing, I could spend all day pontificating and rapt … let me say this, "I loved every nuance, every, thought, feeling, emotion, image, and sensation your words made soar throughout my senses, and I thank you immensely, Linda Marie!" ⁓ Richard

It is an enthralling picture choice and spiritually touching music*

it is always so romantic, a whisper... especially one that "Teach me the love that is found in a rose
and written in crimson calligraphy"... a whisper that breathes warmth on your ear and measures a quickening heart beat... such a whisper, if taught and shared, could be heard in far far away galaxies... so to return a thought you left in one of my poems, the masculine in me find the romantic feminine poetry in your words, they whisper... it's a wonderful poem Linda....

Poetry has been my passion since I was about fifteen years old, and I love the structure of rhyme and meter moreso than just randomly throwing words upon a page without any form whatsoever. Whi.. more..
