Lights and Kinds and Types and Nights

Lights and Kinds and Types and Nights

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"
certain types of people
only look good when things look bad
and certain kinds of people
always look bad when things look good
very few can look the same
under sunlight or the moon
but most will never know
what it is they truly look like
thanks to certain types of people
under certain kinds of light
and the precious few who look the same
under daylight or the night

I've rated you 95/100 mainly due to the fact that 100/100 would be the best piece I've ever read. And I haven't read nearly enough to be able to rate this as my favorite. BEFORE I LOSE MY TRAIN OF THOUGHT, what had caught my attention were the lines
"But most will never know
what it is they truly look like
thanks to certain types of people
under certain kinds of light
and the precious few who look the same
under daylight or the night"

What was your interpretation of the day and night concept? Are they hiding in plain sight? With alterior motives, and tricks up their sleeves?

Tricks up their sleeves? Absolutely.

We're all different.
None are the same.
I like how you wrote this.

We as humans can never be the same. We are created to change, adapt and get better.
Be it for worse or good we are the ones choosing but sometimes we have no choice. It's just the way we are created after all.
All we can do is embrace it.

This is not just a poem Dave, you really played well with the words to tell us the different shimmering colors of people. Last 4 lines, i am reading it again and again. I really dig it. Thanks for sharing.
Warm regards,

Loving the song. Never got to see the movie.
Perhaps no one can know what we truly look alike, well aside from our psychologist, provided we have one of course...It was nice reading your work ;)

A little gem of a poem. It reminds me of a story I was once told: While observing a splendid sunset, a man saw a bear walking in the woods. "Look over there, Margaret. Look at that brown bear over there!". "What?! That black bear over there? I saw it too!" replied the woman.

Oh I adore this.
You do such an excellent job of juxtaposing two ideas here that make such a beautiful point. The world is all about perspective. It falls back into the idea of- history is written by the winners. I can see a lot of correlation between that thought and your poem.

Thank you so much for sharing!

I like this. Reminds me of a line from Elton John "There are men behind bars that pray for the light, and men from the suburbs, who pray for the night." I like the structure as well. Nicely done.
