Sidewalk Dreams

Sidewalk Dreams

A Poem by LuciDxInsanitY

I stare across this valley
Searching for nothing called something
Holding my hands up to a blackened sky
Like a fallen angel seeking salvation in utter surrender
My own lies and hatred in this world
Bludgeon my back till I'm to weak to resist the call of death
Love was what gave me wings, a freedom
From the cascading poisoned diamonds of mortality
Yet this cursed blessing stole my soul from his grasp
Leaving us both too broken for change
This face of mine traces the scars of this place
In hopes of chase towards redemption in similarity
I cry out so loud, so clear, anticipating a breath
Pure and clean from my delirious heart
So watch me trip on battered knees
Tears falling from my face, an assailing deviant agony
Condemn me to a godless phantasm
I am no more but a fallen portrayal of happiness and deceit
In a world no better than this wicked guise

Another brillant piece. Beautifully written imagery, a valley darkened by the blackened night sky. Word play; I love it, "Searching for nothing called something". Your diction is spot on, you add a great flow to your words with such descriptive terms. The fourth line is a powerful simile; I love it. I love the concept. Lovely job, Keep writing
