Dearly Departed

Dearly Departed

A Poem by Nathaniel.C

A short poem I was commissioned to write as a tribute for a funeral. *I received client permission to share*

Dearly Departed
Dearly Departed,
I don't think words can express how I really feel now that you are gone,
It's like my memories perform the same repertoire as my heart sings the same sad song,
My love for you is endless and for your smile I shall forever long,
But death is a boundless ocean and over it you have crossed,
You spirit still lingers here with me, but I still hurt from your loss.

Dearly Departed,
I still cry when I hear your name, you were always my rock,
The clock speaks devastation with every tick and every tock,
It sounds like a monotonous symphony as I wait beside your bed,
Every child must lose their father, I just cradle my head,
The last tick of the grandfather clock forever echoes,
Louder than words, Louder than words, Louder than words.

Dearly Departed,
I feel crazy when I think of you, but it's time for me to move on,
I'll always love you and always miss you but It's my turn to move on,
The memories we share will always be embossed within my soul,
But please give me the strength to look to the sky and just keep moving on,
Always forwards, Never looking back, I will just keep moving on.
