Rhyme

Rhyme

A Poem by Penulis Kecil
"

Somebody once told me that only poetry that rhymed was "proper" and that a lack of rhyme showed a poet up as inferior.

"

Tell me your meter and I'll give you a rhyme
you need only ask - I'll match it line by line.

I can force out the words and give you what you wish
I can make it all work like a flick and a swish.

But where is the art? There's no room for flair!
When you do it that way, there's no magic in there.

Poetry's more than you've asked-

it's flair and precision (and art!)

Let go of convention, stop forcing a rhyme:

the words beg for freedom - let this be your sign!

Author's Note

Penulis Kecil
I wrote this one to both prove that I'm capable of cobbling together a piece that rhymes (albeit very basic rhymes) while staying as true to my own beliefs as I could. Many poems rhyme only because they've been wrestled into it, this one is no different, but at least it admits it!

All polite/relevant reviews are welcome - including constructive critique, grammar and spelling corrections. And thank you for reading/leaving a review! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
