Coelacanth Coelacanth

Coelacanth Coelacanth

A Poem by Scott H.
"

The coelacanth was once believed to be extinct but has since proven itself otherwise

"

“Coelacanth Coelacanth”

Coelacanth, coelacanth
Tell me your secret
Of how to live
The anachronaut’s life

Of how to keep swimming
Against all these currents
The ones that keep shifting
Like rorshachs of light

For I can’t adjust to
This life in the lone sun
I belong to those past nights
Not quickly forgotten

Coelacanth, coelacanth
How came you to be
A relic of the past
Just like me

oh, thanks for reminding me of the Coelacanth!! Learned of it long ago, and had heard of it's re-discovery but, had "forgotten" of it.

Perhaps you've discovered the "secret" behind it's long existence within you own words? A deep water existence that's out of reach to those you exist in the sun and upon the land.

I like very much! Thanks for posting!!

Scott - I think most sensitive people can relate to this creature and to this poem. A feeling of displacement, not belonging, etc. is something I have surely experienced.

You did a wonderful job crafting this piece. One suggestion: Look how you use capital letters at the beginning of lines and make sure you really want them there.

:) That was wonderfully put. How does one keep from becoming extinct when one only lives in the past? I love this. Going in my favorites. And this is probably the only poem in the world written about the coelacanth. Who'd of thunk it. Kudos. ;) Going in favorites.
