Winter’s Touch

Winter’s Touch

A Poem by Poetic Beauty
"

Written 1/12/2024

"
The frosty temperature seeps inside
Burrowing it way into your bones
Squeezing out the body’s natural warmth

The wind whips violently without ease
Scattering the Arctic snow everywhere
It’s biting fingers freezing everything

White frozen orbs scatter lifelessly
In a mindless contorting rhythm
Leaving nothing safe from its death grasp

This is actually one of my favourite writes of yours ,
it also reminds me that we have to have cold empty times for reflection and to know that a lovely more temperate mood will evolve from it ..
Winter to spring just sitting out the in-between moments.

Yep, I know that feeling far too well for my own good. When you have to venture out into it, it socks your soul straight out through your nostrils and it can feel like when you finally get somewhere warm you realise you were holding your breath the whole time.
It can look pretty, but best viewed from a window where you are protected from the worst of it.
Now I hope I remembered to leave the heating on for my return. ☺

A good attempt to capture the assault of freezing temperatures...'burrowing', 'squeezing' - 'whips', 'biting' - all good choices to remind us of discomfort. I was intrigued by the thought of 'your bombs'... Is this a reference to b***s or to balls - or what? lol Yes, the cold hits without discrimination... freezing to death.

No I don’t like the cold lol
Three beautifully descriptive stanzas of winter’s grip and its harshness.
The outlook is cold. Pleased that spring and warner climes are on the way. A lovely nature write.
